The idea of a Nietzschean becoming a father. Almost as ridiculous as the idea of a childless Hegelian —

Religion is burned into the father by the eyes of the child. The sins of the father are his, but the idea of the sins of the father, this — the origin of the religion — belongs to the child. More specifically, to the child’s eyes.1

There is no defence against ‘being seen.’ A cold hard stare doesn’t help — you can hardly take down an asteroid by throwing the planet at it.

How then to account for the faith of the blind? But they know better than anyone what it is be seen, because they can’t see —
